After looking at a few weeks of traffic logs, it seems just about nobody is using desktop/laptops anymore. So I put together a mobile app. It's been awhile since I made something for Android, and it has changed alot.. for the better. I'm not strong using Java, but they have a new language (at least new to me) called "kotlin"
val display = windowManager.defaultDisplay
val size = Point()
val width = size.x
val height = size.y
var iswide = false
if (width>height) iswide=true
I couldn't seem to get any of the documented "orientation" functions to work, always getting -1. not sure why. But I could get the width/height and figure it out myself.
It took me about a day and half to get a working app together from zero, using Android Studio. They have an image generator thingy that lets you build all the sizes of icons automagically (this used to be a pain in the butt, some time ago). I got it signed and uploaded to the Google Play store, it's pending publication.. not sure how long that will take. I have another app in there, I think it went pretty quick. Apple Store is slo-mo, Google Play is fast-mo.
